Tanghetto is a Buenos Aires-based argentine group formed in 2001. Their innovative sound is a mixture of both modern and traditional tango with jazz, electronica and diverse south american influences. The band’s name is inspired in the Argentine diaspora, evoking the “little argentinas” in many european cities.
* The band was nominated twice for the Latin Grammy Awards and won in 2009 a Gardel Award (the argentine equivalent to the Grammy).
* The band’s debut album “Emigrante” reached platinum status in argentina and was nominated as “best instrumental album”. Side project “Hybrid Tango” renewed the sound of tango, reaching gold and being nominated as “best tango album”.
* Between 2005-2008 the band played in more than 100 cities in 22 countries During 2009 the band played in 30 cities of 13 countries
* In 2006 the band released its first full-length DVD. It includes a complete concert and various video clips. Most video clips were already on rotation on MTV and other specialized TV stations.
* In 2007 Tanghetto recorded a BBC Unplugged in London.
